COPA-DATA, the pioneer in industrial automation software, has unveiled zenon 14, a groundbreaking upgrade that will transform efficiency across industries.

For more than three decades, zenon has been a cornerstone tool in automation, enabling industries to harness data effectively and intelligently. The launch of zenon 14 continues this tradition, offering advanced features and enhancements that meet the evolving demands of manufacturing and process industries.

Zenon 14 introduces significant improvements aimed at boosting user experience and project planning efficiency. Key advancements include the streamlined creation and editing of Smart Objects, facilitated by a multi-search and replace function, saving considerable time during variable mapping. Distributed engineering support ensures seamless collaboration among team members, enhancing centralized management without disrupting workflows.

According to Lukas Punzenberger, Director of Product Management at COPA-DATA, “One of the main improvements with zenon 14 is the enhanced support for Smart Object Templates (SOTs) during engineering. From multi-search and replace during instantiation, to dynamic placeholders for texts within templates, our goal is to offer customers a more ergonomic use of templates within a single project.”

The platform’s Web Visualization Service (WVS) has also seen extensive enhancements, delivering visually appealing and high-quality Human Machine Interface (HMI) solutions across multiple web browsers.

SS&C Blue Prism Transforms Monmouthshire Building Society with Intelligent Automation

SS&C Blue Prism has significantly optimized operations at Monmouthshire Building Society (MBS), saving over 560 working days.

Monmouthshire Building Society has rejuvenated its workforce, saving approximately 5,000 hours through automation processes developed by SS&C Blue Prism. These hours, equivalent to 560 working days, have been repurposed to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.

To facilitate the integration of automation, MBS introduced Beanie, a “robo-colleague,” in January 2022. Beanie serves as the face of automation, helping employees understand and appreciate the benefits of automation in completing daily tasks. By automating repetitive manual tasks, Beanie allows human colleagues to focus more on delivering excellent customer service. This year, Beanie’s role will expand to include more strategic initiatives, aligning with MBS’s mission to be a modern, flexible mutual.

Beanie manages digital processes, identifying and correcting errors and inconsistencies within data records, significantly improving data quality and accuracy. The adoption of SS&C Blue Prism’s platform has elevated the accuracy of broker input data from 45% to 95%.

Since adopting SS&C Blue Prism’s automation platform in January 2022, MBS has deployed 20 automated solutions across nine business areas, including finance, IT, lending operations, product, and customer contact departments.

Notably, digital workers have been integrated into mortgage underwriting and initial mortgage assessments. Beanie collects documents submitted by applicants from the broker portal and inputs the data into the core banking platform, allowing MBS employees to evaluate applications and perform necessary checks.

The implementation of automated processes has resulted in significant financial and operational benefits. MBS estimates an annual savings of £226,000, giving back more than 10,750 working hours to employees.

IBM Unveils Revolutionary AI Product, Concert, Ahead of Intelligent Automation Conference

Ben Ball, Senior Director of Product Marketing at IBM, provided insights into IBM’s latest AI initiatives and its groundbreaking new product, Concert.

IBM’s current focus in AI research and development is on simplifying technology operations. “As people try to build applications, it’s an increasingly complex situation,” Ball explained. “There are so many tools and environments involved in application development and maintenance that many teams are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of data.”

To address this challenge, IBM has introduced Concert, an AI-driven solution designed to decipher the vast amounts of data associated with application development and maintenance. “It uses AI to understand how your application works and provides recommendations on how to improve it,” said Ball.

One significant opportunity in AI, according to Ball, is organizing the unstructured data that feeds into AI models. “There can be a gap between the unstructured amoeba of data and what you need for AI, which is sorted and ready to go,” he noted. IBM Concert aims to bridge this gap by evolving to include tools that organize data into a more digestible format for AI engines.

Explainability is another crucial aspect of AI that IBM is addressing with Concert. Ball stressed the importance of understanding AI recommendations: “We’re building in a function that allows users to question the AI’s recommendations and delve deeper into how those conclusions were reached.”

Beyond Concert, IBM offers a suite of AI technologies and tools, including watsonx and AI governance solutions. Ball highlighted IBM’s “use-case-neutral” approach, which allows customers to tailor IBM’s AI capabilities to their specific needs.
